Refrigeration Monitoring Integration & Alerts

Quick Overview
Problem:
Refrigeration monitoring alert emails were being missed or read too late, thus leading to costly maintenance visits and spoilage.

Solution:
Installing the AWC ODIN Retail Enterprise Platform to work in conjunction with their pre-existing refrigerator monitoring system. The ODIN Platform takes the alert email and converts it to voice to be played over the AWR Advantage two-way radios that are carried by in-store personnel.

Result:
In less than 30 days the ODIN Platform system paid for itself by reducing maintenance service charges and spoilage due to open refrigerator doors.

Story:
It doesn’t take long for drastic changes in temperature to negatively impact food quality and usability. Whether it is a power outage, system failure, or a door being left ajar, the issue needs to be taken care of immediately to prevent unnecessary spoilage and loss of revenue.

A large west coast grocer was experiencing a similar problem. Their refrigeration monitoring system was doing its job but they were not getting their email-only notifications in a timely manner. This time lapse between the alarm being sounded and the time the email was read was escalating to a point that the maintenance company would be contacted directly to fix the problem. This in turn lead to service charges and loss of product when a simple solution of closing an open door was all that was needed in most cases. To combat this problem, they installed the AWC ODIN Retail Enterprise Platform to work in conjunction with their pre-existing refrigerator monitoring system to instantly alert on-site personnel over AWR Advantage two-way radios when refrigerator temperatures start to go out of range. This solution allows the appropriate personnel to act quickly and prevent damage, unnecessary maintenance visits, and food spoilage.
