7 Things You Didn’t Know about the AWR Advantage™

1. Durability

The AWR Advantage two-way radio was engineered from the ground up to eliminate common break and fail points. Such as the volume control, antenna, holster, and headset jack.

  • Volume Control Guard
The AWR Advantage has a volume control that is aligned straight with the radio and has a guard so when dropped it will absorb the impact and protect the knob.
  • Flexible Reinforced Antenna
Antennas can be a common breaking point on radios because of their rigidity. The AWR Advantage was designed with a flexible reinforced antenna to combat this problem.
  • Heavy-Duty Steel Hinge
The AWR Advantage Swivel Belt Holster is designed a belt clip featuring a heavy-duty steel hinge that will keep your device where it belongs.
  • Recessed Headset Jack
The AWR Advantage has a recessed headset jack, it was designed this way to reduce the strain on this area.

2. Carrying Options & Accessories

Weighing only 4.5 ounces and 5.8” tall, your staff will love the easy to carry AWR Advantage. With numerous carrying and accessory options, your company and staff will be able to find what works for each individual and what provides the most additional benefits. Such as adding a headset to create a quieter and more pleasant atmosphere for residents and customers.

3. Flashlight

There is the LED Flashlight, this feature is beneficial when working in dark environments or when checking on residents during the night. No longer will your employees be caught off guard in the dark.

4. Wireless Cloning

Wireless cloning allows you to easily copy radio settings from one radio (the master) to all other radios within range without the use of wires or cables. This is beneficial when reprogram existing Advantage radios or programing new ones when needed.

5. Priority Scanning

If there is a certain channel that needs to be checked more often than the others it can be set as a Priority Channel. This function allows one channel to be sampled more regularly for activity, even when the radio is currently receiving on another channel. Instead of scanning the list in order; such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, the radio will jump back to the priority channel between each channel. For example a scan list with priority might go 1, 4, 2, 4, 3, 4.

6. Customizable Faceplates

You can personalize these radios with your company’s logo and color! This means that you can create the AWR Advantage to your exact needs, whether it is showing brand continuity or differentiating between departments or wings.

7. Channel Aliases

Easily remember who is on what channel by adding aliases. Instead of channels being labeled as Channel 1, an up to 8 character alias can be assigned to that specific channel. For example instead of it being channel 2 the radio screen might read “manager” or “wing 1” depending on your company’s needs. This allows an easy way to identify work groups instantly. We find this feature especially beneficial for our customers who use a large number of radio channels because they don’t have to remember who is on what channel.

  • Please note that the radio’s audio channel annunciation feature will still say the channel number even if there is an assigned alias.
